Games at the festival: Life Is Strange is a five-part episodic game that sets out to revolutionize story-based choice and consequence games by allowing the player to rewind time and affect the past, present, and future.

Platforms: PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PS3, Xbox 360, PC

Grades: High school and higher

Education value: Life is Strange is a breath of fresh air. Its one of the first games that takes our medium and dares to create entertainment with stories about everyday people facing everyday issues.

Max, our lead character, can rewind time, but it’s the coming-of-age story and the deep heart-wrenching confusion of a teenage girl coming to terms with tough decisions that really makes the game stand out.

A game that handles bullying, suicide, teen pregnancy, love, friendships, and everyday dilemmas, alongside moments of adventure. It’s styled with a wonderful, hand-painted look and has an award-winning soundtrack of indie and folk music.
